Qualifications and Experience:
David is a Director with Northwood Risk Consulting, with specific responsibilities in the areas of integrated risk management consultancy and property loss control
After graduating as a chemical engineer he worked for several years in engineering design, prior to embarking on a career in risk management
Initially, David joined Factory Mutual where he worked as a Loss Control Engineer (training for one year in the USA and then Australia) and in 1980 he joined Marsh & McLennan as a Senior Risk Control Consultant.
David joined Sedgwick Risk Services in 1983 and after further studies completed a Graduate Diploma in Corporate Risk Management in 1985. As a Divisional Director with Sedgwick, he was responsible for managing the Risk Services group in Victoria, Queensland and WA and was on the board of Sedgwick Victoria for several years. In 2006 he joined Aon as a Principal and continued to work with clients mainly in the mining, chemical and utilities industries. In 2010 David formed Northwood Risk Consulting and continues to provide risk services to a range of clients.
During his consultancy career, David has specialised in chemical and mining risk analysis and risk management programs within major industrial organisations and government.
His experience covers a diverse range of industries including mining and ore processing, power stations, government departments and chemical complexes. He has worked extensively in the Australia/Pacific region, Asia, Europe, Africa, North and South America.
David is one of the architects of the integrated risk management approach that has been developed and used within the industry.
He also designed a two day Risk Management training program which has been run successfully for clients. During the past few years he developed a methodology for determining the optimum public liability policy limits. This has been used successfully in the chemical, utilities, property and healthcare industries
David has had extensive experience in the mining, power, chemical and most other industries and has carried out a diverse range of work including property underwriting surveys, risk assessments, loss expectancy studies and project stage risk management design.
